HEAD COACH
GREGG LONGACRE

Fairdale coach Gregg Longacre is entering his fourth season as the head coach of the Bulldogs. Longacre, the sixth head coach in the history of the program, spent 21 seasons as an assitant prior to taking the head coaching position. In his first three seasons the Bulldogs have compiled a 61-31 record winning 66% of their games. The Dogs have won nearly 70% of their games in sixth region play under Longacre including back-to-back regional championship appearences in 2006-07 and 2007-08. The Dogs won the sixth region and appeared in their first "Sweet Sixteen" in six years in the 2006-07 season.

The Coaching Years

Gregg Longacre began his coaching career at the Freshman level. Longacre coached the Freshman Bulldogs for six seasons under former Bulldog coach Stan Hardin. When Hardin departed for the University of South Carolina, Longacre became the head JV coach and a varsity assistant. As the Fairdale JV coach Longacre won over 80% of his games and was a member of the coaching staff on the 1990, 1991, 1994, 1996, and 2001 regional championship teams.

Longacre was promoted to head coach of the Bulldogs following the retirement of his long-time predecessor Llyod Gardner. In his first season, Longacre led the Dogs to a 15-12 mark despite losing in the opening round of district tournament play. From that point forward the sky has been the limit for the next two teams coached by Longacre. In 2006-07 he led a senior-laden team to the school's ninth "Sweet Sixteen" appearence. The Dogs fell in their opening round game to South Laurel.

Last season Longacre's Dogs posted a 22-11 record despite losing 6 seniors and all five starters from the previous regional championship team. Under his guidence the team that was picked to barely make it to thier district championship advanced to the sixth region title game before falling to Central.

The Playing Years

Gregg Longacre began his long journey with Fairdale basketball as a two-year starter under Stan Hardin. Longacre started on the 1982-83 and 1983-84 teams. Longacre was a member of the sixth region champion Bulldogs in 1983.

Personal

Gregg is married to the former Gina Rishinger and has two sons, Caleb and Ethan. Longacre graduated from the University of Louisville in 1992 with a degree in special education.
