SOCCER OPENS FINAL WEEK OF REGULAR-SEASON
October 6, 2008

The Fairdale Bulldogs (5-4-1) opened their final week of the regular season with a trip to Bullitt Central to take on the Cougars (0-9-1). The Bulldogs came up with their fifth win of the season and scored more than five goals for the fifth time this season. The Bulldogs got goals from sophomore sensation Martin Enciso in the seventh, eighteenth, twenty-third, and twenty-eighth minutes of play. Fellow sophomore Vinnie Weston rounded out the first half scoring for the Dogs with a Penalty Kick in the thirty-ninth minute. Bullitt Central ties the game at 1-1 in the fifthteenth minute of play behind a goal by Morgan Elliott. The Cougars got their final goal of the game on a penalty kick by Louis Faust in the thirty-seventh minute of play after Fairdale goalie Mike Denham had to be removed from the game following a yellow card. Martin Enciso moved to goalie for the penalty kick. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 6-2 on a goal by junior Martin Gonzalez late in the second half. Goalie Mike Denham finished the game with six saves. The win broke a 3-game winless streak for the Bulldogs. Fairdale returns to action this Wednesday at Doss and Thursday at PRP. The Dogs will then take on Southern in the first round of the district tournament next Monday.

DOGS DROP SECOND STRAIGHT

After opening the season with three straight dominating wins the Bulldogs got their first taste of defeat this week against two district opponents. Fairdale which was one of only 3 JCPs teams remaining unbeaten at the beginning of the week fell behind for the first time this season when Seneca opened their game against the Dogs taking a 1-0 lead following a goal in the 14th minute of play. A diving save by Fairdale goalie Mike Denham eighteen minutes into play helped keep the game close. The Redhawks scored again in the nineteenth minute to push the lead to 2-0. Kelvin Kuylee finally got Fairdale their first shot on goal in the thirty-second minute of play. An own goal by the Bulldogs and another late goal by the Redhawks gave Seneca a 4-0 lead at the half.

INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR

The 2008 Fairdale soccer team is off to a hot start in the school’s first season of varsity soccer.  At first glance you might wonder what is going on with the Fairdale soccer program. The team features an ethnically diverse group of athletes and includes both males and females this season.

The team currently features a wide variety of players with various levels of soccer experience. That includes at least 5 different nationalities represented on the Fairdale roster including American, Iraqi, Kenyan, Liberian, and Mexican.

ENCISO KEEPS DOGS UNDEFEATED
Soccer - August 25, 2008

Fairdale (2-0) opened district play on Monday as defended thier home pitch for the first time against district rival Evangel (1-3). The Dogs opened play in a very similar manner to their game on Saturday as sophomore Martin Enciso connected on his first goal of the game just 2:05 into play off a Martin Gonzalez assist. Evangel got their first shot on goal just moments later with Fairdale goal keeper Mike Denham making the save. Enciso connected on two more goals within the next ten minutes with each sailing past the goalie into the bottom right corner of the goal. Denham made another save minutes later keeping the Eagles off the board. Back-to-back Martin Gonzalez shots on goal sailed wide holding the score at 3-0 before freshman Scueb Khalif scored twenty minutes into play extending the Dogs lead. The Eagles got their first goal of the game eight minutes later on their fifth shot as Cesar Cano scored for Evangel pulling them within 3 points. Fairdale outshot Evangel 3-2 to end the half failing to score again.

FAIRDALE RECORDS FIRST SOCCER VICTORY IN HISTORY
Soccer - August 22, 2008

Fairdale (1-0) opened their season on Saturday as they traveled to Burgin (0-1) for Fairdale's first varsity soccer game in school history. The Dogs didn't waste any time as sophomore sensation Martin Enciso scored his first goal off a rebound just 37 seconds into play. From there Fairdale took six straight shots on goal before Burgin came up with their first shot. Burgin's Royalty connected for a goal 11:05 into play to tie the game at 1-1. Junior Martin Gonzalez put the Bulldogs back on top with a goal nearly six minutes later. Enciso scored his second goal 26:40 into play to give the Dogs a 3-1 lead. Burgin scored their final goal of the game on a second goal by Royalty with 11:00 remaining in the first half.

FAIRDALE FALLS IN PRESEASON FINALE
Soccer - August 16, 2008

The 2008 soccer team traveled to Shelby County to take on the Rockets JV team in their final scrimmage before opening the season on August
23 at Burgin. The strong JV Rockets got off to a fast start scoring the opening goal of the game just 10:30 into play. From there the Rockets went on to score two more goals in the next six minutes taking a 3-0 lead. The final Rockets goals of the half came with 2:17 remaining in play. The Dogs came out strong in the second half as junior Martin Gonzalez got three shots on goal early in play. The Rockets found the goal again 12:30 into the second half. They added two goals in the final six minutes of play to seal the 7-0 victory over the Dogs.

ENCISO HAT TRICK HELPS DOGS PREVAIL IN PRESEASON OPENER

The 2008 Fairdale soccer team made their debut on Tuesday night as they traveled to PRP to take on the Panthers in the preseason opener for both teams. The Dogs got off to a slow start as the Panthers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. Following halftime Martin Enciso got things started for the Dogs with a pair of goals to open the half. Amel Mehic added a goal later in the half and Enciso sealed the 4-2 victory for Fairdale as he got his third goal of the game. Senior goal keeper Michael Denham made a number of key saves on the defensive end to shut out the Panthers in the second half. Fairdale will play their final preseason game on Saturday as they travel to take on the Shelby County JV team.
