INEXPERIENCE SHOWS IN BULLDOGS FIRST SCRIMMAGE

Fairdale made their 2008 debut in football on Friday night as they traveled to scrimmage Spencer County. The Bears opened play with the ball as the teams exchanged 10-play drives. The Bulldog defense stepped up big on the opening drive holding the Spencer County offense to just 12 total yards. Fairdale linebacker Jeremiah Wilson recorded 4 tackles on the opening drive alone. The Bulldogs drove 92 yards on their opening drive before being stopped on the 1 yard line on their final play. The first score of the game came on Fairdale's third possesion of the scrimmage as Johnny Crook completed an 80-yard scoring drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. The run was set-up by a 72 yard pass from quarterback CJ Mack to Crook. Spencer County's only touchdown of the game came in the second half of play as they returned an interception 33 yards. The Dogs inexperience showed as they compiled 13 penalties for 105 yards.
The Fairdale rushing game was led by Michael O'Gorman and CJ Mack who each ran for 47 yards. Junior Austen Woosley added 45 yards on 9 carries. Mack also completed 9 of his 13 passes for 206 yards while throwing 2 interceptions. The Bulldog receiving corp was led by Johnny Crook with 87 yards on 2 catches and Bradley Vincent with 59 yards on 2 catches. The Fairdale offense had a total of 354 yards on just 42 plays.
The Fairdale defense looked very strong in the scrimmage as they held a strong Spencer County rushing attack to just 47 total yards. The Bears passing game had 101 total yards as they completed 5 of their 9 passes. The Bulldog defense was led by David Carter with 7 tackles including 6 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks. Jeremiah Wilson and Johnny Crook each added 6 tackles.
