EARLY MISTAKES COST BULLDOGS IN SCRIMMAGE

In their final preseason scrimmage of the season the 2008 Fairdale football team got off to a bad start. A strong defensive effort on the opening series of the game forced a fumble on the third play from scrimmage by Bullitt Central. Taking over on their own 29 yard line the Dogs managed just 5 yards before first year kicker Martin Gonzalez came onto the field for his first field goal attempt. The 42 yard attempt was blocked by the Cougars and returned 75 yards for the opening touchdown of the game less than three minutes into play. The next offensive series had much better results for the Dogs as the drove 67 yards on seven plays before quarterback Bradley Vincent scored on a five yard run. The extra point attempt following the touchdown was also blocked by the Cougars.

INEXPERIENCE SHOWS IN BULLDOGS FIRST SCRIMMAGE

Fairdale made their 2008 debut in football on Friday night as they traveled to scrimmage Spencer County. The Bears opened play with the ball as the teams exchanged 10-play drives. The Bulldog defense stepped up big on the opening drive holding the Spencer County offense to just 12 total yards. Fairdale linebacker Jeremiah Wilson recorded 4 tackles on the opening drive alone. The Bulldogs drove 92 yards on their opening drive before being stopped on the 1 yard line on their final play. The first score of the game came on Fairdale's third possesion of the scrimmage as Johnny Crook completed an 80-yard scoring drive with a 3-yard touchdown run. The run was set-up by a 72 yard pass from quarterback CJ Mack to Crook.

FOOTBALL KICKS OFF 2008 SEASON WITH MIDNIGHT MADNESS PRACTICE ON THURSDAY NIGHT

The 2008 Fairdale football team will open their season on Thursday night as they host Midnight Madness to kick off the first day of full-contact practice. The practice will begin at 12:00am on Friday, August 1st with the Bulldogs practicing under the lights at George Greschel Stadium.

The
2008 Fairdale football team recently completed their
preseason passing league play. The Dogs competed in
a summer league featuring South
Oldham, Fern Creek, Franklin County, Atherton, Spencer
County, Oldham County, Eastern, PRP, CAL, and KCD. The
Dogs finished the summer with a 10-2-2 record behind
first year varsity quarterback Bradley Vincent. The
Bulldogs are looking to improve on their 2007 record
of 9-4 reaching the regional finals of the Class 4A
state tournament.
