FAIRDALE HANGS ON TO WIN TOUGH THREE-SET MATCH

Fairdale (5-3)
recorded their fifth win on Thursday night as they defeated Central in a tough three-set match. It took the Bulldogs until September 11th to reach the five win mark last season. The Yellowjackets opened play taking a qucik 5-2 lead. Samantha Davis helped the Bulldogs jump ahead as she served six straight winning points for the Dogs including four straight aces. From there Fairdale never looked back taking the opening set 25-18. To open the second set the Bulldogs won five straight pointson Kindsey Bowman's serve. The Dogs held that lead until Central recovered to win eight straight points of their own to take the lead 14-11. Fairdale never got closer than four points after that as Central won the second set 25-20.

COLONELS SPOIL FAIRDALE'S HOME OPENER
Volleyball - August 19, 2008

Fairdale (4-2) took their only lead of the match at 1-0 in the opening moments of their 2008 home opener against Oldham County (6-1). From their things went south for the Dogs as Oldham County rolled off 12 straight points before Fairdale regained serve. Meghan Crow rolled off a block, kill, and ace on three straight points to pull Fairdale within 5-20 before Oldham County closed out the first set 25-6. Fairdale faired much better in the opening points of the second set as the pulled within 2-5 following a Kindsey Bowman ace and stayed within five points later in the set on a Cristie Carter kill. The Colonels quickly pulled away at that point jumping out to another 20-5 lead. Kara Dotson gave the Dogs their last hope with a kill to pull them to 7-22. Oldham County closed out the match with a 25-8 second set win. The volleyball team returns to action on Thursday when they host Central in a rematch from last week's JCPS Championships.

FAIRDALE FALLS IN COPPER BRACKET FINAL
Volleyball - August 16, 2008

The 2008 Fairdale volleyball team continued to shine this weekend winning 3 of 5 games in the Shively Sporting Goods Jefferson County Public Schools Championships. The Bulldogs opened play on Friday night as they defeated Iroquois 25-15, 25-23. On Saturday the Dogs took continued pool play against Southern. Fairdale jumped out to a 5-2 lead behind 3 Kindsey Bowman aces before the Trojans stormed back tacking the first set 25-21. The Dogs proved they weren't going away as they opened the second set with a 14-3 lead before a Southern time-out. Fairdale then got 2 kills from Cristie Carter and another from Meghan Crowe as they cruised to a 25-16 win to force a third set. In the final set Fairdale got 4 aces from junor Samantha Davis and a pair of kills by Meghan Crow to seal the 25-14 win and move to 3-0 on the season.

LADY BULLDOGS OPEN SEASON WITH STRONG START
Volleyball - August 13, 2008

Despite some sloppy play at times the 2008 Fairdale volleyball team opened the season with a win for just the third time in seven years. All three season-opening victories have come under Coach Dotti Hicks. Fairdale got off to a slow start as Southern jumped out to an early 6-4 lead in the first set. The Lady Bulldogs came storming back behind junior Samantha Davis' serve to take an 11-6 lead. Fairdale continues to roll through the first set as Meghan Crow served the final point of the set with Fairdale winning 25-16. Southern came out strong to start the second set taking a 4-0 lead before the Bulldogs rallied to tie the score at 9-9. Fairdale took the lead from there and never looked back as they cruised to a 25-21 win in the second set to win the match. The win marked the Bulldogs fifth straight win over Southern. Fairdale returns to action Friday night as they take on Iroquois in the Jefferson County Public Schools Championships at Mid-America Sports Center.

VOLLEYBALL OPENS THE REGULAR-SEASON AGAINST RIVAL SOUTHERN
Volleyball - August 13, 2008
Coach Dotti Hicks will kick off her fourth season as the head coach of the Lady Bulldogs when the Fairdale volleyball team kicks off the regular season at Southern tonight. Fairdale is looking for their fourth straight win over the Lady Trojans. The last three have all been won in two sets. The Lady Bulldogs finished last season 12-14-1 advancing to the regional tournament for the first time since 1989. Fairdale returns seniors Kindsey Bowman, Cristie Carter, and Leah Lightly who all saw significant varsity action last season. Juniors Meghan Crowe, Kara Dotson, and Samantha Davis all return following strong campaigns last season.
